J. Patrick Benge, M.D. joined the OB/GYN Department at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic on October 23, 2000. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and cares for patients at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic at the Vintage and at Kelsey-Seybold’s Spring Medical and Diagnostic Center.

Professional Background
In 1992, Dr. Benge earned his medical degree at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. He completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the Tulane University College of Medicine in Louisiana in 1996.

“I dearly love my obstetric practice and the opportunities it provides for meeting my patient's life partners and several generations of family during the joyous event,” says Dr. Benge. “In addition, I enjoy providing general gynecologic care, gynecologic surgical services and rudimentary infertility care.”

Aeneid Chen, M.D. joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in 1994. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and cares for his patients at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic at The Vintage.

Professional Background
Dr. Chen completed his undergraduate studies in Biology from Fu-Jen Catholic University. In 1989, he completed his medical education at the Texas A&M University College of Medicine. Dr. Chen completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Minneapolis, Minn. in 1993.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Chen graduated from Emporia State University with a Master of Science degree in Microbiology in 1977 and studied in the doctoral program at The University of Texas at Austin.

Academic and Clinical Positions
In addition to caring for patients at Kelsey-Seybold, Dr. Chen is a clinical preceptor at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and is on the faculty of the Houston Taiwan Institute for Senior Citizens.

Dr. Chen’s areas of specialty care include preventive medicine, women’s health, osteoporosis and contraception.

Dr. Chen is a member of the American Congress (formerly College) of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Hobbies and Special Interests
Dr. Chen is married with one child and enjoys hiking as well as traveling. He speaks Taiwanese and Chinese. Dr. Chen is a long-time delegate for the Texas Medical Association’s House of Delegates.

Dr. Itam joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in July 2009. He cares for his patients at the Vintage and Cypress Clinic locations. Dr. Itam speaks Spanish.

Professional Background
After graduating from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Biology in 2000, Dr. Itam went to Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine where he earned his medical degree. In 2009, he completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Baylor College of Medicine where he served as administrative chief resident during his fourth year.

Professional Background
For her undergraduate degree, Dr. Rizzutto attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2001.

In 2005, she completed her doctoral studies at the LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans before going to The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston to complete a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology through the Memorial Hermann Hospital Residency Program.

Clinical Interests
Dr. Rizzutto’s clinical research includes a study of pregnancy outcomes after trauma, done in conjunction with Stephen Patrick, M.D., Karen Schneider, M.D., and Sean Blackwell, M.D. She presented her findings at The University of Texas Health Science Center on Annual Resident Research Day in June 2008.
